2022-23 Norwayne Alumni & Friends, Inc. Queen
Dr. Torica T. Fuller is a native of Fremont North Carolina. She is Lifetime Member of the Norwayne Alumni & Friends, Inc. and the daughter of Ms. Monica Applewhite who is a Lifetime Member of the Norwayne Alumni & Friends, Inc. She is also the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs. Benjamin and Gussie Applewhite. Dr. Fuller attended Norwayne Middle School and also is a member of the graduating class of 1996 at Charles B. Aycock High School in Pikeville, North Carolina.
She has been married for the past 23 years to Dr. Taijuan O. Fuller of Fremont, North Carolina, who is also a Lifetime Member of the Norwayne Alumni & Friends, Inc and the Senior Pastor of Beauty Spot Baptist Church, where she serves on the Praise Team, the Youth & Young Adult Choir, the Education & Resource Center Committee and the Scholarship Committee. She also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration, a Post Master’s Certification as a Nurse Practitioner and a Doctoral Degree in Nursing practice.
Dr. Fuller is currently employed at the Cumberland County Health Department as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is also an Adjunct Professor at both East Carolina University and Fayetteville State University. Presently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Nurses Association and was the Co-Chair of the Academic Practice section of the North Carolina Public Health Association (NCPHA), serving from 2020 to 2022 and is a Basic Life Support Instructor through the American Heart Association. She recently become the founder and chair of the new Advanced Practice Provider (APP) section of NCPHA.
Other accomplishments include the Norwayne Alumni & Friends 2018 President’s Award recipient, the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Lightbulb Award recipient in 2021, the 2022 President’s Impact Award and was a North Carolina Public Health Association Emerging Leader Graduate in 2020. She is currently a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the East Carolina Alumni Association, the North Carolina Public Health Association, the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. Fuller has completed multiple publication and scholarly activities, most recently she has published an article in the Fall 2022 Tarheel Nurse publication entitled, “The Strong Impact of Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) Projects: Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening.”
Dr. Fuller was instrumental in bringing the Annual 5k Walk/Run for scholarships to the Norwayne Alumni and has worked diligently to see this event come to pass, year after year. She also provided much guidance during the worst moments of the COVID-19 virus in both 2020 and 2021, ensuring that the Norwayne Alumni followed the wisest and safest protocols for all activities. In 2021, Dr. Fuller was the speaker for the Norwayne Alumni Scholarship program.
Her most recent accomplishment is the privilege of having a scholarship named after her by the DNPs of Color organization. It is called the Dr. Torica T. Fuller Scholarship for Professional Development. She is very proud of all that God has done in the past and what He is now doing in her life in the present.
She is honored to be considered and granted the opportunity to serve as the Queen of the Norwayne Alumni & Friends organization and will continue to strive for excellence as she seeks to represent the organization well. She is grateful for all the support from her friends, her family, loved ones and many others who helped her on her journey toward becoming the Queen.
