2021 Award Winners
This year’s JH Carney Leadership Award recipient is Beatrice Jones, Class of 1971. Her work in the community and being an advocate for others made her the right choice for this year’s award.
The President’s Community Impact Award was presented to Beatrice Jones and Sherree Sutton for their work that has impacted not only locally but also other communities as an extension of Norwayne Alumni.
The Light Bulb Award goes to Torica Applewhite-Fuller, Teresa Williams-Lewis, Herbert Lewis, and Alvin Ward for contributions of new ideas for the alumni.
President’s Award: Mary Harvey Chapman, Van Jewel Sampson-Marshall, Bobby Earl Artis, Cedric Dickerson, and Michael Newsome for their alumni involvement towards improvements.
New Award - Drum/Encourager Award: MacArthur Edmundson, Eula T. Holden, Cynthia Yelverton and Mark A. Sutton for their work to bring on new members and support of the alumni.
New Award - Story Book Award: Van Jewel Sampson-Marshall, and Sherree Sutton, Franklin Coley and Tony Moore for their work in the framing of the Norwayne Book Story Project.
New Award - Generational/Legacy Seed Award: It is truly amazing how things come full circle. Our first Nonagenarian recipient was Rev/Pastor Johnnie C. Sherrod. Now for our first Fourth Generational membership seed recognition award goes to his family; all of his daughters were and are members. His legacy continued to his grandchildren and now to his great grandson which continues the seed planting process.
Generational/Legacy Seed Award: Our second fourth Generational Legacy award goes to the seed of Elizabeth F. Moore, Norwayne Class of 70; all three of her children are Life Time Members, followed by a granddaughter and great granddaughter who recently became members.
